Westrich moorland

The Westricher Moorniederung is on the one hand a fauna-flora-habitat area (FFH area) in the West Palatinate ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). On the other hand, it denotes a large area in the St. Ingbert- Kaiserslauterer Senke between the Bliesaue and Kaiserslautern . The FFH area has an area of ​​2,152 hectares .

The Westrich Moorniederung lies between the North Palatinate Uplands , the Westrich Plateau , the Palatinate Forest and the Kirkeler Forest . It extends over the lowlands of Kaiserslautern via Kindsbach , Landstuhl , Ramstein-Miesenbach , Hütschenhausen , Bruchmühlbach-Miesau , Waldmohr , Bruchhof-Sanddorf and Homburg to Mastau near Beeden and has an extension of approx. 40 km in an east-west direction and a maximum of 4 km in north-south direction. Their lowest points are at 222  m above sea level. NHN in the west at the confluence of the Erbach in the Blies and at 223  m above sea level. NHN at the outflow of the Glans to the north near Hütschenhausen , individual hills protrude at about 260  m above sea level. NHN only a little beyond the lowlands. The area is drained in the western part by the Erbach , in the central part by Glan and Mohrbach and in the eastern part by the Lauter . The Westrich Moorniederung extends over parts of the natural areas Kaiserslauter Basin, Landstuhler Bruch , Peterswaldmoor / Jägersburger Moor and Homburg Basin .
