history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1196. The Spieskappel monastery became the owner of the village in 1235 and also held the patronage of the church. In 1237, the Kappel monastery received market rights for weight from the Counts of Ziegenhain. From 1266 at the latest, Wichte was a parish village.
In 1282 the Kappel Monastery sold the jurisdiction and parts of its property in Wichte to the Haydau Monastery . In 1362 the Kappel monastery also sold the remaining parts of its property to the Haydau monastery.
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1971 Wichte was incorporated into the municipality of Altmorschen as part of the regional reform in Hesse . The municipality of Morschen was formed on January 1, 1974 by virtue of state law through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Altmorschen, Heina, Konnefeld and Neumorschen. Altenmorschen became the seat of the municipal administration and local districts were set up for all former municipalities . At the same time as the merger to form the Morchen community, it changed to the newly formed Schwalm-Eder district.
