Wide prairie -

Wide Prairie is the only solo album of Linda McCartney . She was a member of the Wings music group in the 1970s and then worked with her husband Paul McCartney as an accompanying musician until 1997. The album was released on October 26, 1998 in the UK and on October 27 in the US, six months after her death (April 17, 1998).

Emergence

On the cover of the album, Paul McCartney wrote that a fan wrote a letter a few years ago asking if there were any other songs by Linda McCartney because he had liked Seaside Woman . So Paul McCartney made the decision to put this album together.

The song Seaside Woman was Linda McCartney's first original composition and was first released as a single under the pseudonym Suzy and the Red Stripes on May 31, 1977 in the USA and on August 10, 1979 in Great Britain. In the US, the single came to number 59 on the charts. On July 18, 1980, the single was re-released as a 7 "and 12" vinyl single in the UK. The B-side was always B-Side to Seaside . Another re-release in 7 "and 12" vinyl format took place on July 7, 1986 in Great Britain, with both songs being remixed by Alvin Clark.

Another song sung by Linda McCartney that was released prior to the release of the Wide Prairie album was Cook of the House from the Wings at the Speed of Sound album .

The song Cow was first released on the album Oobu Joobu-Ecology, which was limited to 3,000 copies, in May 1997.

The original plan was to release a Linda McCartney album on January 16, 1991, but this project was never realized.

In March 1998, Linda and Paul McCartney went to their Hog Hill Studio to complete further recording work, so on March 7th the song Appaloosa was re-recorded. On March 18, 1998, the song The Light Comes from Within with James McCartney was recorded, on March 20, the vocals for the song I Got Up was re-recorded. The McCartney family flew to the recording of their ranch in Tucson ( Arizona ) in the US, where Linda McCartney died on April 17, 1998th

On July 7th and 8th, 1998 Paul McCartney recorded more overdubs for the songs Sugartime and I Got Up and finished the album with Geoff Emerick .
