history

The establishment of the place is likely to go hand in hand with the construction of a fortification in the small Kerbtal, the later Wildenroth Castle , in 1249 or only a little later. The village of Wildenroth (and not the fortification) was mentioned for the first time on April 8, 1436 in a fiefdom from Heinz von Redwitz to Margrave Friedrich I of Brandenburg-Bayreuth .

On January 1, 1977, Wildenroth was incorporated into the town of Burgkunstadt as part of the community of Gärtenroth together with the other districts of Flurholz , Lopphof and Eben as part of the municipal reform in Bavaria .

In April and May 2015 the rain retention basin in the northern part of the village was rehabilitated. It is used to protect the village against floods when the Wildenrother Mühlbach swells .
