history

In the oldest documentary mention from the year 1323 or 1328, the place is referred to as Altrawtreut . The first syllable is probably a later prescription by Albrat . Albrat or Albrada was the granddaughter of Heinrich von Schweinfurt and, in the second half of the 11th century, the margravine of the margraviate of Schweinfurt, which extended into the Obermaing area. According to a document from 1071, the margravine also had the Fronhofverband Kunstat as a personal asset for her lifelong usufruct. On their behalf, the clearing took place at the site of today's Reuth, and thus the foundation of the town.

Other place names and spellings in the Middle Ages were Weiprechtsreut , Reut behind Kunstat and Eckenbrechtsreuth .

On January 1, 1977, Reuth was incorporated into the town of Burgkunstadt, together with Hainzendorf, as part of the former community of Kirchlein as part of the municipal reform in Bavaria .
