List of wild fruits

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wild fruits (or wild fruits ) are the fruits of types of fruit that have only been little cultivated by humans. The transition to cultivated fruit is often fluid. Therefore, wild and cultivated fruits cannot always be clearly distinguished from one another.

List of wild fruits

Wild fruits are grown commercially, albeit to a far lesser extent than in intensive fruit growing. There are also a few types of grades. In general, it should be noted that sometimes only individual species of a genus produce edible fruits or fruits that can be used in the kitchen, whereas others can be inedible or poisonous. Here are some examples:

Barberry fruits ( Berberis vulgaris )
Hazelnuts ( Corylus )
  • Birch family ( Betulaceae )
  • Finger fruit family ( Lardizabalaceae )
Ripe elderberries ( Sambucus nigra )
Common snowball ( Viburnum opulus ) - twigs with deciduous leaves and ripe fruits.
  • Ginkgo family ( Ginkgoaceae )
Cranberry fruits ( Vaccinium macrocarpon )
  • Buckthorn Family ( Rhamnaceae )
Sea buckthorn berries ( Hippophae rhamnoides )
  • Pimpernuss family ( Staphyleaceae )
Dog rose hips ( Rosa canina )
Common rock pear ( Amelanchier ovalis ) with fruits
Service tree ( Sorbus domestica ) - leaves and fruits
Sloe ( Prunus spinosa )
