Wilhelm Marschall von Sulicki (born September 25, 1820 in Stolp , † April 11, 1883 in Düsseldorf ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 27th Infantry Brigade .

Life

Wilhelm was a son of the Prussian colonel and commander of the 8th Hussar Regiment Friedrich Marschall von Sulicki (1775–1834) and his wife Friederike, née von Aschenbach (1781–1839). His older brother Karl (1803–1877) also became a Prussian major general.

Military career

Marschall visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . Subsequently, on August 15, 1838, he was transferred to the 17th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as Portepeefähnrich. In mid-January 1839 he was transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment and the following year he was promoted to second lieutenant . From November 1848 to March 1852 Marshal was adjutant of the 1st Battalion and in this capacity he took part in the suppression of the revolutionary unrest in Düsseldorf in 1849 . After his promotion to Prime Lieutenant , he was commanded as a company commander in the 1st Battalion in the 16th Landwehr Regiment at the end of July 1855 and rose to captain on January 6, 1857 . This was followed by a position as a company commander from February 1858 . As a major , Marschall was transferred to the 7th Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 69 in April 1866 and appointed commander of the Fusilier Battalion. In the war that followed against Austria , he led his fusiliers in the battle near Hühnerwasser and in the battles near Münchengrätz and Königgrätz . Awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class with swords, he advanced to lieutenant colonel .

At the beginning of the war against France , Marschall led his battalion in the battles at Gravelotte and Amies as well as in front of Metz . On December 17, 1870 he was appointed commander of the 5th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 94 ("Grand Duke of Saxony") for the duration of the mobile relationship and fought at the Hallue and Le Mans . For his behavior, Marshal received both classes of the Iron Cross and the Commander of the House Order of the White Falcon with Swords.

After the end of the war he was appointed regimental commander for peace relations on June 20, 1871 and promoted to colonel on August 18, 1871 . In position à la suite of his regiment, he was appointed commander of the 27th Infantry Brigade in Düsseldorf on May 18, 1876. Marschall married Adelheid von Vietsch (1827–1904) on January 12, 1854 in Düsseldorf. The marriage had four children:
