Wilhelm von Wedel-Piesdorf (born May 20, 1837 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † July 11, 1915 in Berlin ) was a large German landowner and administrative lawyer.

Life

He came from the noble von Wedel family . His parents were Busso von Wedell (1804–1974) and Pauline von der Reck (1805–1859). Wilhelm von Wedel-Piesdorf was the brother of Karl von Wedel-Piesdorf .

He first studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1856 he became active in the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg with Carl von Behr , Archibald von Gramatzki , Eduard von Rindfleisch and Ernst Baedeker . As an inactive he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin .

In 1858 he entered the internal administration of the Kingdom of Prussia and became district administrator in the Wolmirstedt district and the Mansfelder Seekreis . He resigned from civil service in 1876 to take over the management of his manor in Piesdorf. As a large landowner, he was a member of the farmers' union .

In 1881 v. Wedel offered the appointment of regional president in the administrative district of Magdeburg . For the Conservative Party (Prussia) he sat in the Prussian House of Representatives from 1879 to 1885 . Since 1884 a free conservative member of the Reichstag (German Empire) , he was elected President of the Reichstag in the same year . As King of Prussia appointed Wilhelm II. Him in the Year of Three Emperors to Minister of the Royal House (Prussia) . In 1885 he became a member of the Prussian manor house at the presentation of the Association of the Pomeranian Castle Seated Sex von Wedel , and in 1912 he became its president. Wilhelm v. Wedel was honorary commander and chancellor of the Order of St. John .

Wedelplatz in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde was named after him from around 1910 and 1937 .

He married Editha Sophie von Kotze on January 10, 1871 (born January 9, 1843, † April 19, 1946). The only daughter Clara Pauline (born February 13, 1872) married Count Johannes von Bismarck-Bohlen (born January 14, 1864 - June 16, 1920), a son of General Friedrich Alexander von Bismarck-Bohlen .
