Fosen is a peninsula on the west coast of Norway in Fylke Trøndelag . The peninsula has an area of around 3,500 square kilometers and is relatively sparsely populated with a population of 25,612 in 2007. The peninsula lies off the coast of Trøndelag , northwest of the Trondheimsfjord , and is bounded to the west by the Frohavet estuary . The municipality of Namdalseid and the Namsfjord limit it to the north and northeast. The highest point of the peninsula is the mountain Finnvollheia , with 675 moh , this peak also marks the border between the municipalities of Åfjord and Namdalseid.

The Fosen peninsula is connected to the rest of the mainland via country roads (" Riksvei ") and ferry connections. The next larger city is Trondheim , where there is an airport, an international port and a train station.
Fosen Vind wind farm
The Fosen Vind wind farm is currently the largest wind farm in Europe under construction. The owners are Statkraft , BKW Energie and Credit Suisse .
