The Speyersberg spring

The Wittbach rises south of Michelrieth in the open field. It initially runs in a south-easterly direction through the town of Oberwittbach , which belongs to Marktheidenfeld , then bends to the south-west and reaches Unterwittbach , a district of Kreuzwertheim . There the Wittbach flows parallel to State Road 2315 into a forest area and is reinforced by the Speyersberg spring at the Widderstube . The Wittbach crosses the boundary of the Triefenstein district of Trennfeld for about 12 meters before it crosses under the state road after an arch in the district of Kreuzwertheim . To the east of Kreuzwertheim, the Wittbach flows into the Main from the right and north opposite the Eichel town, which belongs to the town of Wertheim , at the end of the Main loop in the southeast of the Mainviereck .

Widderstube

The Widderstube

The Widderstube is a small, above-ground pumping station between Unterwittbach and Kreuzwertheim that uses a ram, the Widder , to transport water from the Speyersberg spring to the Flurbrunnen drinking water source without electrical energy after it dried up from 1907 to 1960. In 1909 Kreuzwertheim bought the Speyersberg spring from Unterwittbach. This secured the water supply of Kreuzwertheim. The 1.8 kilometer long delivery pipes were laid by volunteers. They run about 25 meters up on a forest path. The organizers previously visited a ram in Vielbrunn and began to build the " room " for him. Today you can hear and feel the beats of Aries from afar in the ground.
