Wladyslaw Hawryk ( Ukrainian Владислав Гаврик ; born May 21, 1991 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian ice hockey player who has been playing for HC Prešov in the Slovak 1st division , the second highest division in the country, since 2017 .

Career

Wladyslaw Hawryk began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Druzhba-78 Kharkiv in his native city, for which he played six seasons up to the age of 18. 2009 he moved to the United States, where he first for the team of Hebron Academy in high school -Ligensystem the United States and then four years for the team of Skidmore College in the Division III National Collegiate Athletic Association played. After completing his studies, he moved to the Federal Hockey League , where he first stood for a few months for the Danbury Whalers and then moved to the Berkshire Battalion . He spent the 2015/16 season in the Southern Professional Hockey League , where he played for the Louisiana IceGators and the Columbus Cottonmouths . In 2016 he returned to Ukraine and initially played for HK Donbass Donetsk in the Ukrainian ice hockey league . In November 2016, however, he moved to league rivals HK Kremenchuk , where he ended the season. He was then taken under contract by HC Prešov from the Slovak 1st division , the second highest division in the country.

International

Hawryk was in the junior division at the U18 World Championships in 2008 in Division I and at the U20 World Championships in 2010 and 2011 , each also in Division I, for his home country.

Hawryk played for the men's national team of Ukraine for the first time in the 2015 World Cup , when he and his team had to accept relegation from group A to group B in Division I. Also in the men's ice hockey world championship in 2016 , when he achieved the best plus / minus balance of the tournament and, together with the Croatian Borna Rendulić, was the third best scorer behind the Estonian Robert Rooba and the British Ben O'Connor , in 2017 and 2018 he played in the Division I.
