Wolfgang Gaisböck (born April 3, 1972 in Taiskirchen im Innkreis ) is an Austrian musician specializing in historical trumpet .

Life

From 1990 Wolfgang Gaisböck studied trumpet at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz with Josef Eidenberger and at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Hans Gansch .

Since 1996 he has been a member of the Camerata Salzburg . He has performed as a soloist in leading early music ensembles ( Concentus Musicus Vienna under Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Academy for Early Music Berlin , Il Giardino Armonico , Concerto Cologne , “The Bach Ensemble” under Joshua Rifkin ). Concerts with these ensembles have taken him to the Berlin Philharmonic , the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , the Italian Teatro Municipale Valli , Finland, Japan and Slovenia and as part of the Proms in the Royal Albert Hall . Gaisböck is considered to be one of the leading baroque trumpeters, especially as a specialist for the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto and the cantatas by JS Bach .

Wolfgang Gaisböck has been teaching historical trumpet at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and modern trumpet at the Upper Austrian Music School since 2005 . Since 2013 he has been a lecturer for natural trumpet at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg . Wolfgang Gaisböck is co-founder of the "Schwanthaler Trompeten Consort".

With the “Schwanthaler Trompeten Consort” he won the 2011 International HIF Beaver Competition in the Augustinian Monastery of St. Florian (Upper Austria).
