The Wolfshorn is 643.6  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the southwest of the Rothaargebirge . It is located in the Kirchhundem district of Welschen Ennest in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The Wolfshorn rises in the southern part of the Sauerland , in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park and in the areas of the municipality of Kirchhundem and the city of Kreuztal . Its peak is in the municipality of Kirchhundems 1.5 km east of the Welschen Ennest district , 1.7 km northwest of the Silberg district , 1.9 km west of the Varste district and 1.9 km south of the Benolpe district . It lies on the border of the districts of Kirchhundemer Kohlhagen in the southeast and Rahrbach in the northwest. On the south-western slope of the mountain, which is already part of the Siegerland, lies the district of Burgholdinghausen in Kreuztal , which is 250 m away from the summit and almost 625  m in height. To the south the landscape leads over to the Hohen Wald ( 656.2  m ) and to the northeast to the Rimmert ( 569  m ).

The Wolfshorn is 643.6  m high. In the southern vicinity of the summit, there are two trigonometric points at heights of 642.2  m and 642  m .

Natural allocation

The Wolfshorn belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33), in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Westrothaarhöhen (333.4) to the natural area Brachthäuser Hohe Waldberge (333.40, see section in the Rothaargebirgs article ). Flowing waters

The Heimkehrsiepen rises on the southern slope of the Wolfshorn , a tributary of the Schladesiepen , which flows southeast of the mountain into the Silberbach ; The Arenssiepen, which swells on the eastern slope, also flows into this. To the north-northeast of the mountain, the Silberbach feeds the upper reaches of the Olpe flowing west of the mountain, also called Rahrbach or Rohrbach . On the south-south-west slope of the mountain lies the source of the predominantly southward running Littfe (Dickenbrücher water) , which flows into the Ferndorfbach .

Others

About 230 m southwest of the Wolfshorn summit, a historical boundary stone marks the course of the Kölschen Heck (Landhecke) , a former Landwehr that follows today's administrative border between the districts of Olpe and Siegen-Wittgenstein .

Parts of the landscape protection area (LSG) Kreis Olpe ( CDDA no. 555555098; ​​designated 1984; 265.0307  km² in size) lie on large parts of the mountain , and those of LSG Kreuztal extend to the south-west slope (CDDA no. 386369; 2004; 53 , 1735 km²).

The Siegerlandweg of the Sauerland Mountain Association runs over the southwest slope of the mountain .
