The World U-17 Hockey Challenge in November 2014 was the 22nd edition of the World U-17 Hockey Challenge , an ice hockey tournament for junior national teams in the U17 age group. From November 2nd to 8th, 2014 the competition took place in Sarnia and Lambton Shores in the Canadian province of Ontario . The gold medal was won for the fourth time by the Russian selection , which prevailed against Team USA in the final .
The World U-17 Hockey Challenge therefore took place for the first time in November, as before over the New Year. In addition, only three Canadian teams took part instead of five, so that the field of participants was reduced from ten to eight.
mode
The eight participants were divided into two groups of four teams each. In the group stage, each team played once against all other group participants and thus played three games. Then all participants contest the quarter-finals, which, like the semi-finals and the final, were played in the knockout system .
