Yaya DaCosta (* 15. November 1982 in New York City as Camara DaCosta Johnson ) is an American actress and photo model .

Life

DaCosta grew up in Harlem, New York . She attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School , 2004, she graduated from the compartment for International Relations at Brown University in Providence . In the same year she took part in the third season of America's Next Top Model and took second place. She then worked as a photo model.

After appearing in an episode of the television series Eve , DaCosta played the role of LaRhette in the dance film Dance! In 2006 alongside Antonio Banderas . Every dream begins with the first step . For this role she was nominated for the 2006 Teen Choice Award . She also took on a larger role in the previously unreleased drama The Shanghai Hotel . In 2006 she took acting lessons and was hired for a role in the drama Honeydripper alongside Danny Glover . She was nominated for the role at the Black Reel Awards 2008 in the category Best Ensemble .
