This marriage resulted in three children, his sister Hava was born in Berlin in 1915, he a year later and his brother Michael later in Hamburg.

Felix Hebrew his name in Pincha's roses .

His father Felix was a bearer of the Iron Cross , was discharged from the imperial army in 1914 and then worked as a surgeon in a hospital in Berlin. He joined the Zionist youth migration movement Blau-Weiß and, because of anti-Semitic moods in Berlin, went with his family to Hamburg, where he worked in a hospital and made the plan to emigrate to Israel. In 1923 the Danziger family immigrated to the British Mandate Palestine in Jerusalem , where Felix Danziger founded the city's first hospital. His parents befriended the Muslims living there and Itzhak spent a summer at the royal court of Jordan with Naif, a son of the then king. In 1929 the family went to Tel Aviv , where Felix Danziger built another hospital. After graduating from high school, Itzhak studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London from 1934 to 1937 . Danzig's most significant work is Nimrod , a biblical hero, one of Israel's first modern bare human sculptures, which was initially controversial but subsequently found widespread recognition both in Israel and abroad. This biblical figure became a symbol of the Young Hebrews who drew on the myths of Nimrod . While this movement did not find massive support, it had a long-lasting influence on the intellectuals of Israel in the 1940s and 1950s. The sculpture is in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

Danziger is also known in Israel as a landscape architect and was appointed professor at the Technion Faculty of Architecture . Recently, this Danziger faculty has dedicated an exhibition on the subject of Earth, Water, Tree (German: Earth, Water, Tree ).

Nimrod

On his return to Palestine in 1938, he joined an intellectual movement that consisted primarily of writers, who called themselves the Young Hebrews and were disparagingly called Canaanites by their opponents . The cultural-political movement of the Young Hebrews radically set itself apart from the strict religious orthodoxy of Judaism, its ways of life and history. Ofakim Hadashim (New Horizon) , a group of sculptors to which the sculptor Dov Feigin belonged , later emerged from this movement .

In the period from 1938 to 1939 Danziger created the sculpture Nimrod . This work with a height of 95 cm was created from reddish Nubian sandstone , which is also used in the ancient city of Petra in Jordan . The sculpture depicts a naked uncircumcised hunter with a falcon on his shoulder. When the sculpture, commissioned by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem , was unveiled, religious Jewish circles protested. However, in the years that followed, the sculpture received general recognition as a masterpiece of Israeli art and influenced the later work of sculptors, painters, writers and poets.

The figure forms the combination of sculptures from the Middle East and modern sculptural representations of the human body and is heavily influenced by ancient Egyptian art from the time of Pharaoh Chephren . Nimrod shows the motif of a determined hunter omitting the arms with a hunting bird, which points to the Egyptian archaeological fragments and artistic works of the early Middle East.

After 1945

In 1945 Itzhak Danziger moved to Paris and from 1945 to 1948 he traveled continuously between Tel Aviv , Paris and London. During this time he assisted Ossip Zadkine and Constantin Brâncuși in Paris in carrying out their work.

In 1948 he moved from Paris to London, where he lived until 1955 and kept in touch with the sculptors Kenneth Armitage and Eduardo Paolozzi .

When Itzhak Danziger was nominated by the Mexican Olympic Committee, he created Israel's artistic contribution in 1967/1968. The work of art Untitled is part of the Ruta de la Amistad Sculpture Trail in Mexico City , which was built on the occasion of the 1968 Summer Olympics .

In 1968 he was awarded the Israel Prize for his work.

In 1977 Itzak Danziger was killed in a car accident.
