Yoni Kretzmer

Yonatan "Yoni" Kretzmer (* 1982 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli tenor saxophonist and composer in the field of free jazz .

Live and act

Yoni Kretzmer started playing the saxophone at the age of 14. After teaching in Israel with Erez Barnoi and Stephen Horenstein , he moved to Paris, where he studied with Peter Giron and Rick Margitza at the American School of Modern Music and also performed in various clubs. After his return to Israel he led his own formations (such as Zork and Far From Home ) and played with Albert Beger , Assif Tsahar , Harold Rubin , Daniel Sarid , Evan Parker , Yuval Mesner , Slava Ganelin , Vladimir Volkov . With his band New Dilemma , with which he combines freely improvised music with chamber music , he released his first album in 2009, and he has also performed at several festivals such as the Red Sea Jazz Festival and the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival . In 2009 he recorded with Baby Sommer ( Live in Jerusalem ). Matthieu Donarian and Assif Tsahar . In 2010 he moved to New York City, had lessons with Ellery Eskelin and has since worked with his own formations, such as the 2Bass Quartet with Sean Conly , Reuben Radding and Mike Pride and in a trio with Jason Ajemian and Mike Pride.
