Youri Ziffzer (born August 21, 1986 in Singapore ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who last played for Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League until 2017 .

Career

Youri Ziffzer was born in Singapore , but his family moved to Germany shortly afterwards , where Ziffzer learned to play ice hockey at EHC Klostersee . In 2001 he switched to the Adler Mannheim youth project , where he played for the young eagles in the DNL . He won the title in the highest German youth league three times with the Mannheim team. After he was only the Adler's fourth goalkeeper in the DEL behind Danny aus den Birken in the 2003/04 season , the goalie who caught the left decided to move to the Eisbären Berlin . In his first year in Berlin he was used almost exclusively in the Eisbären Oberliga team. In the following season, however, he completed most of the year in the DEL and became German champions for the second time with the Berliners . In the middle of the season he was temporarily loaned to the Hamburg Freezers . In the 2006/07 season he was a regular goalkeeper for the polar bears. His contract with the capital city ran until 2009. After a total of four championships, he then moved to league rivals Hannover Scorpions , for whom he played until 2011. With the Scorpions he was again German champion in the 2009/10 season. After three years with the Kölner Haien , with whom he was German runner-up twice, he moved to the Adler Mannheim for the 2014/15 season . This season he reached the first place in the table with the Eagles after the regular season and won the German championship in the subsequent play-offs .

In April 2017 it was announced that he will no longer be part of the Adler Mannheim squad for the following season. Ziffzer then ended his playing career.

At the beginning of February 2018, the Adler announced that he would work as team leader starting with the 2018/19 season in order to take on organizational tasks such as planning away trips and training camps.

In 2004, Ziffzer was in goal for a DEB selection for the first time . At the U-18 World Cup in 2004 , he was the tournament's best goalkeeper. He also took part in the 2007 World Cup in Moscow.
