Yutong buses in Lianjing with LNG -drive

Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co., Ltd. ( Yutong for short ) is a Chinese company and the world's largest manufacturer of buses .

history

The company's history began in 1963 in Zhengzhou , a transportation hub in Henan Province , with the establishment of a bus repair workshop ( Zhengzhou Bus Repairing Factory ). This resulted in the Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. in 1993 . ; it was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1997.

In 2002, with the help of a corporate cooperation agreement with the German manufacturer MAN , the internationalization of Yutong was accelerated; the products were increasingly adapted to international standards and global sales opportunities improved.

The first access to the European market took place in 2005 through a joint venture with the Icelandic coachbuilder Guðmundur Tyrfingsson Ltd. and the joint establishment of Yutong Eurobus . Since then, sales activities in Northern Europe have been coordinated from the company's headquarters in the southern Icelandic town of Selfoss .

In the years that followed, Yutong increasingly expanded its own developments: In 2008, the first city bus with an aluminum body was manufactured. In the same year, the production capacity was expanded to 105 buses per day. In 2009, the systems for cathodic dip painting supplied by the German Dürr AG were put into operation.

Notable orders were the sale of 5,348 buses to Cuba in 2007, the largest single order in the company's history, and the delivery of more than 200 eye-catching Yutong double-decker buses for the Macedonian capital Skopje in 2011 . These are retro-style replicas of the Routemaster buses that were typical of the London cityscape until the end of the 1960s .

With 47,474 buses sold, Yutong became the global market leader for the first time in 2012, ahead of King Long with 33,924 vehicles and Daimler AG with 32,888 buses. One of the major export successes in 2013 was the sale of 1,000 city buses, mainly running on natural gas, to Venezuela. In 2013 the company consolidated its global market leadership with 56,068 buses sold. Since then, the company has increased its activities in the European Union; Market entry in Great Britain and Ireland began in October 2013.

Manufacturer of electric and hybrid buses

Yutong manufactures plug-in hybrid buses from 10 to 18 m in length and battery buses from 6 to 12 m in length. According to the company's own information, Yutong has a market share of 40% for plug-in buses and 20% for battery buses (as of 2015).

In August 2015, the Yutong ZK6125FCEVG1 fuel cell bus received market approval for China. The fuel cell of this 12-meter-long solo bus is fed with hydrogen, which is stored in eight 140-liter gas bottles. These buses have a range of 300 km without refueling.

Two months after the market launch of the Yutong E6 battery bus in spring 2015 , 3,000 orders had been placed. The 6 m long bus has twelve seats and can carry 36 passengers. With a fully charged battery, the bus can travel 140 km under normal road conditions. The battery has a capacity of 60 kWh and is charged within one hour by charging with direct current and a charging voltage of 380 V. With fast charging, ten minutes are enough to get the bus ready for another 60 km.

At the beginning of November 2015, the 12 m long Yutong E12 , a fully electric low-floor battery bus, was presented as a novelty . Since the start of production of electric buses, 8,000 battery buses have been sold and are used in more than 140 cities.
