ZDF 2 was the name of a television channel operated by the Second German Television , which was broadcast from January 1, 1984 to November 30, 1984 as part of the cable pilot project. The broadcaster broadcast programs from the ZDF main program with a time delay under the motto “ Age-Alternative TV” , some of them also broadcasts from the same day before they were broadcast on the regular ZDF program. In addition, programs of the First Private Television Company (EPF) , a subsidiary of the regional newspaper Die Rheinpfalz and German newspaper publisher, were broadcast on the channel. In this context EPF offered programs with informative, regional, popular and entertaining content. At times a tele newspaper was also broadcast.

The station was broadcast from January 1, 1984 in the cable pilot projects Ludwigshafen am Rhein on channel 13 and from April 1984 in the cable network of Munich .

ZDF 2 stopped broadcasting just 11 months after the start in favor of the 3sat broadcaster jointly organized by ZDF, ORF and SRG , whose predecessor program ZDF 2 can be described.
