Johann Christoph von Zabuesnig
Johann Christoph von Zabuesnig (born November 9, 1747 in Augsburg ; † June 27, 1827 there ) was a German writer who was also mayor of Augsburg from 1813 to 1818 .
Life
Zabuesnig was born the son of a clothing dealer in Augsburg. He attended the Jesuit college of St. Salvator and lived in Paris and Trieste from 1765 . In 1772 he married the daughter of the Augsburg bookseller and publisher JA Veith. Zabuesnig caused a stir when he gave a lecture on February 15, 1796 as the spokesman for the merchants against the abuses of the patrician rule in the Grand Council. After the transition from Augsburg to Bavaria between 1807 and 1813, he became mayor of the city of Augsburg. He was ordained a priest on April 24, 1817 , his wife, with whom he had 15 children, had died shortly before. Zabuesnig published many religious and philosophical works. He also published fables, poems of homage, including on Mozart, and translations from French and Latin.
Zabuesnig was the supporter of the only public concert by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the Russian Hall of the Fugger Houses in Augsburg.
