Zack O'Malley Greenburg

Zack O'Malley Greenburg (born March 8, 1985 in New York City ) is an American book author , journalist and former child actor . He gained some notoriety through his title role in the film drama Lorenzo's Oil, which is based on true events .

Career

At the age of about six years, he played the title role in the film drama Lorenzo's Oil alongside Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon . Greenburg wrote his first magazine article, a video game review , for Boys' Life magazine at the age of 14 . Greenburg holds degrees from Hastings High School in New York (2003) and Yale College (2007), and during his time at Yale he contributed extensively to the content of the student newspaper Yale Daily News .

In 2005 he began writing as a salaried journalist for Forbes Magazine , where he still covers the subjects of business, finance, tourism, music and sports. Among his prominent interview partners included, for example, Bruno Mars , 50 Cent , Akon , Afrika Bambaataa , Natasha Bedingfield , Swizz Beatz , Lil Jon , DMX and Mr. T . He is the author of Forbes' own blog, The Beat Report . He has also worked as a freelance journalist for The Washington Post , Dan's Papers, The Huffington Post , Sports Illustrated, AOL Daily Finance, McSweeney's, Vibes and others. He has been a visiting professor at Berklee College of Music and at the universities of Yale, Georgetown and Harvard . Media companies like BBC , CBS , CNBC , CNN , MTV , E! , Bloomberg , NPR and Reuters consulted Greenburg as an expert.

On March 17, 2011, the biography he wrote of the rapper Jay-Z was published with the title Empire State of Mind .

In 2012 he was one of the protagonists of the documentary Money, Power, Respect: Hip Hop Billion Dollar Industry .

Private

Greenburg was born with a talent for journalism because his parents are authors. Father Dan Greenburg is the author of the American science fiction series ZACK (original title: The Zack Files, named after his son), which was also broadcast on German television . His mother, Suzanne O'Malley, is a screenwriter on the Law & Order series and also wrote a book about child murderer Andrea Yates, which was released in January 2004 under the title Are You There Alone? The Unspeakable Crime of Andrea Yates was released.

Greenburg still lives in his native New York.
