Zbigniew Wegehaupt (* 9. August 1954 in Katowice ; † 13. January 2012 in Warsaw ) was a Polish bassist of the Modern Jazz .
Live and act
Wegehaupt studied the double bass at the State Music Academy in Katowice. Then he played with established Polish jazz musicians such as Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski and Zbigniew Seifert as well as the big band Katowice (album 1978). He subsequently performed with Tomasz Stańko , Andrzej Kurylewicz , Jerzy Satanowski , Wojciech Karolak , Stanisław Sojka or Jarosław Śmietana and belonged to Zbigniew Namysłowski's group for a long time . He has also worked as a studio musician ( e.g. for Varius Manx , Anna Maria Jopek or Aga Zaryan ) and composed the music for the film Tuchomie-20 Ha Sztuki . Since the first decade of the new century he has led his own quartet.
Wegehaupt was a lecturer at the Bednarska State Music School in Warsaw. He played at numerous jazz festivals, such as the Jazz Jamboree , the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Bilbao Jazz Festival .
