Zenith

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Large concert halls in France are usually referred to as " Zénith " ( German  Zenit ). There are currently 18 Zéniths, a 19th is under construction in Le Port on Réunion , an overseas department . The previous project of a Zénith in Saint-Denis was abandoned.

The term is protected and may only be used if certain conditions are met. A Zénith must, among other things, have a capacity of at least 3,000 spectators.

In 1984 the first Zénith was opened in the Parc de la Villette in Paris . The largest Zénith is the Zénith Strasbourg Europe and is located in Eckbolsheim in the arrondissement of Strasbourg . It was inaugurated in January 2008 and seats 12,079.
