Maxéville is a French commune with 9,814 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Nancy and the canton of Val de Lorraine Sud (until 2015: canton of Pompey ).

Maxéville is on the outskirts of Nancy an der Meurthe . Maxéville is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Champigneulles in the west and north, Malzéville in the east, Nancy in the south and Laxou in the southwest.

Economy and Infrastructure
The largest employer in the municipality is a branch of the international chemical company Solvay , which processes the limestone extracted in the north of Maxéville into soda . As a suburb of the city of Nancy , Maxéville has numerous supermarkets, car dealerships and other service providers. The A31 autoroute runs through the municipality from the Dutch border to Dijon . The proximity to Nancy means that public transport is closely linked to the city. In 2009 a prison was established in Maxéville.
