Lemainville (1801 also with the spelling Lemanville ) is a French commune with 374 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region ( Lorraine until 2015 ). The municipality is part of the Nancy arrondissement and the Pays du Saintois municipality .

geography

The municipality of Lemainville is in the east of the Saintois countryside on the Madon River , about 20 kilometers south of Nancy . The Madon describes a sharp bend in the river here. It comes from the west-southwest and turns to west-northwest. Lemainville is surrounded by the neighboring communities Benney in the east, Ormes-et-Ville in the south, Gerbécourt-et-Haplemont in the south-west and Ceintrey and Voinémont in the north-west.

history

In the Ancien Régime, the residents were subordinate to the Dukes of Lorraine and the Marquis in Haroué . After all, the Flavigny Abbey also owned land in Lemainville.
