Marthemont is a French commune with 42 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and the municipality of Moselle et Madon . With 42 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Marthemont is one of the smallest municipalities in Lorraine.

The municipality of Marthemont in the north of the Saintois countryside is 17 kilometers southwest of Nancy and 17 kilometers southeast of Toul . The municipal area of ​​2.17 km² extends on both sides of the Ruisseau de la Prairie , a stream that drains to the Madon . The small village is located in a valley opening to the northeast and is framed in the south and west by the slopes of a plateau that rise over 100 meters in altitude. The municipality has a small share of the wooded plateau ( Bois du Fey ). The area around Marthemont is characterized by fields, pastures and orchards.

Neighboring communities of Marthemont are: Maizières in the north, Thélod in the east and south, Germiny in the southwest and Viterne in the west.

The church in Marthemont was built in the 18th century in place of an old Romanesque church from the 12th century. In a corner outside the church is a sculpture that dates from the 16th or 17th centuries.
