Diarville is a French commune with 539 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and the Pays du Saintois municipal association founded in 2012 . Canton of Meine au Saintois .
geography
The municipality of Diarville is located in the eastern part of the Saintois landscape , west of the Madon Valley, about 30 kilometers south of Nancy . The districts of Le Breuil and Le Clos Raphaël , which adjoin the town center, belong to Diarville .
The 11.03 km² municipal area extends between the gentle foothills of the Colline de Sion-Vaudémont and the Madon river valley. In the area of the municipality, the Grinrupt, Ruisseau du Breuil and Mirabée streams , after which the municipal association was named, meet and drain over the Beaulong in a narrow valley to the Moselle tributary Madon. In the west of the municipality heights of over 300 m above sea level are reached ( Haut du Moulin 304 m, Haut des Quevenelles 301 m). In the southwest, Diarville has shares in the two forest areas Saint-Pierre Bois and Bois du Harvaux . The majority of the municipal area consists of fields, meadows and orchards.
Neighboring municipalities of Diarville are: Saint-Firmin in the north, Marainville-sur-Madon in the east, Pont-sur-Madon in the south-east, Ambacourt in the south, Bouzanville in the south-west, Forcelles-sous-Gugney in the west and Housséville in the north-west.
history
During the Ancien Régime, Diarville belonged to the County of Vaudémont and ecclesiastically to the Remiremont chapter .
Diarville got a railway connection on December 22nd, 1879, when the section of the Nancy - Merrey railway line from Vézelise to Mirecourt was opened.
On October 26, 2004, Diarville became the seat of the newly founded community association Mirabée due to its central location .

Attractions
The village church of St. Aper ( Saint-Epvre ) has a Romanesque bell tower and Romanesque portals. After a devastating fire in the nave, the church was rebuilt in 1964. The church windows also date from this time.
Economy and Infrastructure
Nine farms are located in Diarville (cereal and vegetable cultivation, horse and cattle breeding). In addition, small craft and service companies (including a post office) are located in the village. Some of the residents work in Mirecourt or in the industrial plants on the Moselle.
Diarville is also a primary school location (l'école primaire) for smaller neighboring towns.
The D 913 trunk road runs through the municipality of Diarville from Metz via Nancy to Mirecourt (former RN 413 ). The road D 64 branches off in Diarville to Saxon-Sion . The motorway-like RN 57 (Metz – Nancy– Épinal ) runs twelve kilometers to the east and can be reached via the Gripport junction . Diarville station is on the Nancy – Mirecourt – Merrey line .
