Bainville-sur-Madon (1793 still with the spelling Brainville ) is a French commune with 1,396 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and the municipality of Moselle et Madon .

The municipality of Bainville-sur-Madon in the north of the Saintois landscape is located on the lower Madon , five kilometers from its confluence with the Moselle and 15 kilometers south of Nancy .

The 5.88 km² municipal area extends from the Madon river valley, which partially forms the eastern municipal boundary, in a south-westerly direction over the depression of the Madon tributary Ruisseau de Viterne to the Sainte-Barbe plateau northwest of the core town, which is almost 200 meters rises above the Madontal. A large part of the airfield of Pont-Saint-Vincent and the former Fort Pélissier belongs to the municipality of Bainvilles . The surrounding area of ​​Bainville is characterized by fields, the slopes of the plateau are forested, which, however, only corresponds to a 5% forest share of the total municipal area.

history

In the middle of the 19th century, numerous graves were discovered on the Sainte-Barbe plateau between Bainville and Pont-Saint-Vincent, whose additions from the Gallo-Roman culture indicate a long history of settlement in this area.

The Church of St. Martin was built in the 17th century.

From 1878 to 1881 the plateau was on the highly visible spur Sainte-Barbe , the Fort Pélissier as a barrier to the southern hinterland of Nancy built. The fortress, which has been modernized several times, with an attached airfield, served military purposes until 1996, most recently as a training center. A group of enthusiasts bought the fallow site in 1999 with the aim of building an amusement park, which opened as Fort Aventure in May 2005 and welcomed the 30,000th visitor two years later.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are five farms in the community (grain cultivation, horse breeding). There are also small craft and service companies based in the village. The population of Bainville has been rising steadily since the 1980s, which is mainly due to the influx of employees from the industrial and service areas from the nearby Nancy / Ludres / Neuves-Maisons agglomeration .

Bainville-sur-Madon is also the school location ( l'école Jacques Callot ) for the smaller neighboring communities.

The commune of Bainville-sur-Madon is connected to the neighboring communes by departmental roads.
