Bainville-aux-Miroirs is a French commune with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and the Pays du Saintois municipality .
geography
The community is located on the D570 departmental road on the Moselle, around 30 kilometers south of Nancy and ten kilometers north of Charmes . On the left, parallel to the Moselle, the Canal des Vosges runs through the municipality. The ruins of the castle lie south of the town center over the left bank of the Moselle. Bainville-aux-Miroirs includes the hamlets of Les Chaussottes in the west and Bingerville and Montauban in the east, on the right of the Moselle.
Neighboring municipalities to Bainville-aux-Mirroirs (clockwise, starting from the north) are: Mangonville , Virecourt , Villacourt , Chamagne , Gripport , Lebeuville and Leménil-Mitry .
Toponymy and History
The place name Babanivilla , which appeared in the year 836, is derived from the Germanic personal name Babano . The lords of Bainville were the Counts of Vaudémont . Belonging to Burgundy in the 14th century , Bainville fell to Lorraine when the castle was destroyed in 1468. Until 1801 the parish was called Bainville .
