Ormes-et-Ville is a French commune with 227 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The municipality is part of the Nancy arrondissement and the Pays du Saintois municipality .

geography

Ormes-et-Ville is located in the hill country between the rivers Mosel and Madon , about 23 kilometers south of Nancy . The Madon forms the western boundary of the municipality. Ormes-et-Ville is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lemainville in the north, Benney in the northeast, Saint-Remimont in the east, Crantenoy in the southeast, Haroué in the south and Gerbécourt-et-Haplemont in the west. The municipality consists of the larger village of Ormes with town hall and church and the smaller village of Ville sur Madon .

history

Between 1790 and 1794 Ormes and Ville were two separate parishes. In 1971 Ormes-et-Ville became part of the municipality of Les Mesnils-sur-Madon (today: Crantenoy ) and in 1987 it became independent again.

Economy and Infrastructure

In the municipality of Ormes-et-Ville there are five farms (cereal growing, cattle breeding).

The motorway-like RN 57 runs along the eastern edge of the municipality . The train station in the municipality of Ceintrey, seven kilometers away, is on the railway line from Nancy to Vittel .
