Vézelise is a French commune with 1,454 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and was the main town (chef-lieu) of the canton of Vézelise . It is now the seat of the Bureau centralisateur for the new Canton of Meine au Saintois .

Vézelise is located on the Brénon , about 20 kilometers south of Nancy .

history

The Vézelise Capuchin monastery housed Swiss Cistercian nuns from 1874 to 1902 , who then moved to the Thyrnau monastery .
