Voinémont is a French commune with 331 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and the Pays du Saintois municipality .
geography
The municipality of Voinémont in Saintois is located on the lower Madon , a left tributary of the Moselle , 17 kilometers south of Nancy .
A wide loop of the river Madon forms the western and southern borders of the 4.11 km² municipal area. The terrain to the right of the Madon rises gently by around 50 meters. In the south, the terraced step over the river is more pronounced and wooded. Almost 90% of the community area is used for agriculture.
Neighboring municipalities of Voinémont are: Ceintrey in the west and north, Benney in the east and Lemainville in the southeast and south.
history
The chapel in Voinémont was first mentioned in 1090 in a paper from the Abbey of Épinal . She belonged to the parish of the neighboring village Benney. From 1506 until the French Revolution, Voinémont was part of the lords of Salm , and later that of Beauveau .
The church in Voinémont was built in the 15th century.
A special feature is the agglomeration of the municipalities of Voinémont and Ceintrey , which have grown together geographically and are only administratively separated. The border between the two communities runs through the middle of a built-up area. Questions of regional planning, economic development and, last but not least, the maintenance of the primary schools are regulated through the Pays du Saintois municipal association, to which both municipalities belong.
