Varangéville is a French commune with 3,652 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nancy and the Canton of Lunéville-1 (until 2015: Canton Tomblaine ). The inhabitants are called Varangévillois (es) .
geography
Varangéville is located on the Meurthe , into which the Roanne flows here. The Canal de la Marne au Rhin runs right through the municipality . Varangéville is surrounded by the neighboring communities Lenoncourt in the north and northwest, Buissoncourt in the north, Haraucourt in the east and northeast, Dombasle-sur-Meurthe in the east and southeast, Rosières-aux-Salines in the south, Saint-Nicolas-de-Port in the southwest, Laneuveville-devant-Nancy to the west and Art-sur-Meurthe to the west and north-west.
The Varangéville-Saint-Nicolas train station is on the Paris – Strasbourg line .
history
At the end of the eighth century, the monks of Gorze established a priory here in Varangesi villa .
