Zettlitz is a district of the Upper Franconian market Marktzeuln in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The village is about nine kilometers east of Lichtenfels near the junction of the Rodach and the Main . The Zehntgraben flows through the lower part of the village in the Rodachaue. State road 2191 leads through Zettlitz from Marktzeuln to federal road 289 . The federal highway 173 from Lichtenfels to Kronach leads past this place.

history

The first documentary mention was in 1249, when Iring von Kunstadt offered the Langheim monastery his court in "Cedeliz" as a reparation. In 1250 Dietrich von Kunstadt and his sisters renounced half of “Cedeliz” in favor of Langheim Abbey.

In 1801 Zettlitz consisted of a post office and an inn. Six remote houses had to pay their taxes to the Lichtenfelser Amt of the Hochstift Bamberg , ten fiefs with houses and barns as well as the inn were taxable to the Weismain Amt. The area and the central court belonged to the bishopric, the village, community, fiefdom and bailiwick rule and three quarters of the tenth belonged to the Langheim monastery.

In 1818 Zettlitz belonged to the Obermainkreis . In 1862, the village was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Lichtenfels .

In 1875 the official renaming of Zettlitz the upper one took place in Zettlitz. The place had 166 inhabitants and 60 buildings. The village belonged to the Catholic school and church district from Marktzeuln, one kilometer away, and to the Protestant school and church district from Obristfeld, 1.5 kilometers away . In 1900 the rural community of Zettlitz including the community part of Horb am Main comprised an area of ​​248.6 hectares, 257 inhabitants, of which 145 were Catholic and 111 were Protestant, and 47 residential buildings. 129 people lived in Zettlitz in 20 residential buildings. In 1925, 151 people lived in 23 residential buildings in the village. In 1950 the village had 194 residents and 27 residential buildings. In 1970 Zettlitz had 179 inhabitants and in 1987 122 inhabitants and 37 residential buildings with 47 apartments.

The incorporation to Marktzeuln took place on July 1, 1977. A volunteer fire brigade existed from 1903 to 2015.

Attractions

Catholic chapel

The Catholic chapel on the main street, a rectangular plastered building with a gable roof and turret , dates from the first half of the 19th century. The Bavarian list of monuments lists another three architectural monuments for Zettlitz .
