history
During construction work in 1996, prehistoric finds were made, which, due to the excavated ceramic quarry , suggest a hillside settlement dating back to the Late Bronze Age .
Zscheckwitz was first mentioned in a document in 1216 as Seiskwitz (old Sorb. Čižkovici = people of Čiž (e) k ). In the 15th and 16th centuries, Scheckwitz or Tscheckwitz was a wealthy, official manor of 79 hectares. Several houses in Kautzsch and Quohren and the Vorwerk Laue were subordinate to the estate , as well as a mill, a brick factory and a quarry. In 1834 he was assigned 446 servants with 26 hooves .
Zscheckwitz itself, however, remained an individual property over the centuries, i.e. H. There was never a village complex around the courtyard. The current castle building dates from the first half of the 18th century. The royal and electoral secretary and chamber archivist Johann Friedrich Gerven commissioned the construction of the four-sided courtyard as heir, feudal lord and court lord on Zscheckwitz. The manor house in the rural baroque style closes off a domed hip roof that is animated by roof houses . In the middle of the ridge it carried an octagonal clock tower with the slipped onion dome, which could be seen from afar.
Since 1936 Zscheckwitz belonged to Theisewitz, in 1973 it was incorporated into Kreischa. The estate has been used as a cowshed and storage facility by LPG Progress Kleincarsdorf since 1954 . In 1995 the clinic Bavaria acquired the homestead. In the following year, a neurological rehabilitation center for children and adolescents was built to the west of the historic manor complex , which started taking in patients in July 1997.
