Babisnau is a district of the Saxon community Kreischa in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .
geography
Babisnau is located south of the state capital Dresden and north of Kreischa. In the north the federal highway 17 passes. The Babisnau poplar stands near the village .

history
The first written mention of Babisnau comes from the year 1288. In 1378 the place belonged to the Castrum Dresden, 1547 to the Dresden office . Since 1748 the administrative affiliation changed several times between the office Dresden and the office Pirna . In 1856 Babisnau belonged to the Dresden court office , then to the Dresden administrative authority . On April 17, 1945, a B-17G “ Flying Fortress ” crashed just west of the location during a daytime attack by American bomber groups on Dresden . Seven crew members were killed. A barn burned to the ground as a result of an explosion. A memorial stone for the Allied aircrew still marks the place today. In 1952 the place became part of the Dresden-Land district , in 1957 Babisnau was given to the Freital district and incorporated into Bärenklause-Kautzsch . On March 1, 1994, this community was incorporated into Kreischa. In the course of the district reform in Saxony in 1994 , Kreischa and its districts became part of the newly formed Weisseritz district from the districts of Freital and Dippoldiswalde . This was August 1, 2008 with the District Saxon Switzerland for District Saxon Switzerland-Osterzgebirge combined.
