Zulo is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Zumalai ( municipality of Cova Lima ). "Zulo" is the Bunak word for " civet cat ".

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Zulo had an area of ​​38.70 km². Now it is 34.20 km². The Suco Zulo forms two separate territories in the administrative office of Zumalai.

The area in the center borders the Suco Tashilin in the southwest , Fatuleto in the northwest , Lour in the northeast and Raimea in the southeast . The border with Lour is formed by the Fatoro River, which flows into the Mola . The Mola flows in Raimea near the border with Zulo. The center of Zumalai , the main town of the administrative office, is located in Zulo on this border . It is part of a closed settlement center that consists of several places and extends to the neighboring sucos Raimea and Lour. In the Zulo area, next to the center of Zumalai, there are the districts of Zulokota ( Zulo City ), Dilukede and Maliseran . There is a preparatory school for secondary school, a helipad and a community health center. The three primary schools of the settlement center are in the area of ​​the neighboring sucos. In Zumalai three national roads meet: from the west from Suai, from the east from Hato-Udo with a junction to Ainaro in the northeast and from the north a road that later splits to Bobonaro and Atsabe.

The second territory of the sucos is to the northwest of the administrative office. Suco Tashilin is to the south, Lepo to the southeast, Mape to the east and Ucecai to the northeast . West to the community lies Bobonaro belonging Office of Administration Bobonaro with its Sucos Carabau , Lour and Molop . The border with Mape is formed by the river Fatoro , that with Lour by the river Bemutin , which later flows into the Loumea coming from Bobonaro . From here the Loumea follows the border from Zulo to Molop. The country road from Zumalai to Bobonaro runs right through the area. The town of Quimaque lies on her . The four Aldeias Lale , Leogol , Obuc Mil and Zulo Tas are located in the Suco . The place Zulo Tas is located in Suco Lepo.

Residents

2868 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 1475 are men and 1393 women. The population density is 83.9 inhabitants / km². There are 520 households in the Suco. Over 70% of the population name Bunak as their mother tongue. Almost 26% speak Tetum Prasa , over 1% Tetum Terik and small minorities Kemak or Habun .

In the 2004/2005 elections , Vitorino was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Afonso dos Santos Talo Mau won .
