A drama by Johannes Fabrick from 2015 with Julia Koschitz and Felix Klare in the leading roles is twice for life . It is about the relationship of a young couple in which one partner is sentenced to life imprisonment for murder .
action
Franziska and Sebastian have been a happy couple for four years and enjoy their time together. One morning the police stand in front of the shared apartment and arrest Sebastian. The charge: murder. Franziska believes that it was a mistake and that he will be home in the afternoon, but he remains in custody . It turns out that Sebastian had an affair with the murder victim, he was also with the victim on the day of the crime, his DNA traces were found on and in the corpse. Nevertheless, Sebastian vehemently protests his innocence, but he is sentenced to life imprisonment.
A world collapses for Franziska. She gets into an argument with her parents, who accuse her of turning a blind eye to reality. Work colleagues turn away. It hits her hard that Sebastian's best friend breaks off contact. She is increasingly isolated, but remains with Sebastian and marries him in prison. Finally, she doubts whether he is really innocent. She met a former friend of Sebastian through a work colleague. She reveals to her that Sebastian can be extremely dominant and does not shy away from violence. Franziska had never experienced this trait in their relationship. She confronts Sebastian with her findings, but he weighs it down. A short time later, Franziska was allowed to spend a long-term visit with him for the first time. During sexual intercourse , Sebastian initially suffers from an erectile dysfunction and becomes violent towards Franziska, who then triggers an emergency call and leaves the prison.
The next day, Sebastian is found hanged in his cell. A new life begins for Franziska, but doubts remain as to whether he was really the culprit. She later sees a TV report that the body of a woman was found who was beaten up in the same way as the murder victim at the time. It remains open whether Sebastian really committed the crime.
Criticism and nomination
The Augsburger Allgemeine praises the film with "two great actors in the leading roles", which draws its tension from the constant question of guilt or innocence. However, she criticizes Franziska's "somewhat annoying" nightmares. From the newspaper's point of view, they seem “gimmicky and actually don't fit the basic tone of the TV drama about love and loss of trust”. Rainer Tittelbach praises the film as a "reduced, visually strong drama, which thanks to the coherent psychology keeps the tension up to the end."
The film was nominated for the Hamburg Producer Award for German TV Productions at the Hamburg Film Festival .
