(2589) Daniel ( 1979 QU 2 ; 1955 VA 1 ; 1975 VJ 1 ; 1975 XZ 6 ; 1978 JZ 1 ) is an approximately nine kilometer asteroid of the outer main belt , which was discovered on August 22, 1979 by the Swedish astronomer Claes-Ingvar Lagerkvist on La Silla observatory on which La Silla was discovered in La Higuera in Chile ( IAU code 809). It belongs to the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis .
designation
(2589) Daniel was named by the explorer Claes-Ingvar Lagerkvist after his son Daniel Lagerkvist .
