(2975) Spahr ( 1970 AF 1 ; 1957 HU ; 1967 GH ; 1970 AK 1 ; 1970 CB ; 1978 PF 4 ) is an approximately six kilometers large asteroid of the inner main belt that was destroyed on January 8, 1970 by the Russian (then: Soviet Union ) Astronomers Heino Iogannowitsch Potter and A. Lokalow at the Cerro El Roble Observatory on which Cerro El Roble was discovered in the La Campana National Park in the Región de Valparaíso in Chile ( IAU code 805).

designation

(2975) Spahr was named after the American astronomer Timothy B. Spahr (* 1970), who was involved in the Bigelow Sky Survey . The name was given by the American astronomers Brian Marsden , GV Williams and SM Larson .
