(48422) Schrade is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen on November 3, 1988 at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).
The celestial body was named after the German manager Hugo Schrade (1900–1974) who wrote the Codex Sinaiticus in 1844 , which was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Jena. The asteroid was named on May 1, 2003.
