(95247) Schalansky is a main outer belt asteroid discovered on February 12, 2002 by the Canadian astronomer of Hong Kong origin William Kwong Yu Yeung at the Desert Eagle Observatory near Benson , Arizona ( IAU code 333).
The asteroid belongs to the Ursula family, a several billion year old asteroid family named after the asteroid (375) Ursula .
(95247) Schalansky was named after the German writer Judith Schalansky on June 15, 2011 . Her book from 2009 " Atlas of the remote islands " was particularly highlighted in the dedication .
