Écuelles is a district of Moret-Loing et Orvanne , a commune Déléguée with 2,305 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) and a former French commune in the department of Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It belonged to the canton of Moret-sur-Loing in the Arrondissement of Fontainebleau and was a member of the Moret, Seine et Loing municipal association . The inhabitants are called Écuellois .
geography
Écuelles is located on the Loing , a tributary of the Seine , at the southeastern foot of the Fontainebleau forest , and on the Orvanne , which flows into the Loing here. Écuelles is surrounded by Moret-sur-Loing in the north and by the neighboring communities Montarlot in the east, Villecerf in the south, Épisy in the southwest, Montigny-sur-Loing in the west and southwest and Fontainebleau in the west.
history
On January 1, 2015, Écuelles merged with Moret-sur-Loing and adopted the new name Orvanne . The two former communities remained as sub-communities (French commune déléguée ) of Orvanne. Before the merger, the place was marked with the INSEE code 77166 and last had 2457 inhabitants (as of 2013).
