Óscar Hernández Pérez (born April 10, 1978 in Barcelona ) is a former Spanish tennis player .

Career

Hernández started playing tennis at the age of three. In 1998 he turned professional.

In October 2003, Hernández was among the top 100 in the world for the first time. In 2005 the Spaniard reached the second round of the French Open .

In 2007, Hernández won the ATP tournament in Vina del Mar in doubles alongside Paul Capdeville . In the same year he reached the third round of the French Open with a clear victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber . There he lost to Jonas Björkman 7: 6, 3 , 3: 6, 0: 6 and 1: 6. On October 8th, the Spaniard was in 48th place in the world, his highest ranking.

Hernández resigned from professional tennis in 2011, but made his final tour of the major Grand Slam tournaments in 2014 with a protected ranking . At the US Open 2014 he played his last professional match in the qualifying round against the Belgian Niels Desein , which he lost in two sets.

In 2014, Hernández played in the German Regionalliga Süd-Ost for TC Weiß-Blau Würzburg.
