Landsassengut Ödmiesbach

Satzenhofen-Sonnenburg coat of arms

On November 16, 1604, Jobst Sigmund von Satzenhofen was awarded the Ödmiesbach estate, which belonged to the Tännesberg office, when his father's inheritance was divided. These included Ödmiesbach, Weiherhäusl and Miesmühle. Steinach , only "a cool Puchssen shot away" from Gleiritsch , was bought in the following years. The following are documented as residents of Ödmiesbach: Hans Tobias von Satzenhofen (1652), Hans Andreas von Satzenhofen (1693/94), his widow (1699), the royal Danish lieutenant colonel von Donop (1709), Anton Augustin Gundl (1715), Johann Leonhard von Donndorf (1724), Johann Peter Strigler (1724), his widow Cäcilie Strigler (1751), Aron Strigler (1764), Alois Sigmund Franz Strigler (1767). On February 25, 1770, after changes of ownership within the family, Joseph Aaron Strigler exchanged "the knight and country estate Ödmiesbach" and the associated court marches Stainach and Guttenfürst with Ignaz Anton Mariophilus Falkner von Sonnenburg for the "knight and country estate Döllnitz ". In 1792 Johann Niklas von Sonnenburg took over the Landsassengut Ödmiesbach, Gutenfürst and Steinach from his parents. He was followed by Kajetan von Sonnenburg. His son Max von Sonnenburg took his own life because of the "bad financial situation in 1834 in Oedmiesbach Castle". The estates in Ödmiesbach were divided up, the castle fell into disrepair and was gradually demolished.

Tax District and Parish Education

The Kingdom of Bavaria was divided into 15 districts in 1808. These districts were named after rivers based on the French model ( Naabkreis , Regenkreis , Unterdonaukreis , etc.). The districts were divided into district courts. The districts in turn should be divided into individual municipality areas. The municipality Ödmiesbach belonged to the regional court Vohenstrauß. The localities Weiherhäusl and Miesmühle belonged to the political community of Ödmiesbach.

Since every congregation should have at least 20 houses, the congregations were reorganized in 1830. The municipality of Ödmiesbach was dissolved and merged with the municipality of Zeinried to form a new administrative unit. The community also included Pilchau (today Markt Tännesberg, district Neustadt ad Waldnaab), Miesmühle, Neumühle, Schneglmühle, Schömersdorf and Weiherhäusl. In 1840 "a district court, 1st class in Oberviechtach" was formed. The community of Zeinried with Ödmiesbach came to the Oberviechtach regional court district, which now consisted of 26 communities. Ödmiesbach was part of the municipality of Zeinried until its dissolution and came to the municipality of Teunz on May 1, 1978. The last mayor was Hans Kiesl from Ödmiesbach.

School history

With the introduction of compulsory schooling in Bavaria, the former municipality of Ödmiesbach became a school location. The old school house was in the center of the village south of the former castle complex, which passed into private hands and was smashed after the death of the last resident of Ödmiesbach. In 1960/61, a new schoolhouse with a teacher's apartment and sports field was built on the road from Ödmiesbach to Zeinried. In the 1967/68 school year the school was closed and at that time a total of 28 students in eight classes attended. The Zeinried / Ödmiesbach / Weiherhäusl school district was dissolved and Teunz joined.

School situation today

Pre-school children are accommodated in the kindergarten in Teunz. The students from Ödmiesbach attend the elementary school in Teunz and the Doktor-Eisenbarth-Mittelschule in Oberviechtach. A secondary school can be found in Nabburg, a business school in Weiden and high schools in Oberviechtach, Nabburg and Weiden . The way to school can only be covered by buses.
