In the south of the district the Inönü Ovası plain extends , there is the Kuzfındık Baraj Gölü reservoir and further northeast two smaller lakes, both named Dutluca Göleti .

The Anatolian Railway from Istanbul - Haydarpaşa to Ankara runs through the district north of Inönü .

history

In January and March / April 1921, two battles took place here in the Turkish War of Liberation , in which Mustafa İsmet was able to achieve decisive victories. In memory of this, he took the surname İnönü in 1934 according to the Family Name Act.

Originally (from 1926) part of Bozüyük district ( Bilecik province ), İnönü moved to the central district ( Merkez ) of Eskişehir in 1963 and was split off as an independent district in 1987. According to the city logo, İnönü received the status of a municipality ( Belediye ) as early as 1884 .
