The letter Ɵ (lower case ɵ) is a letter of the Latin writing system , consisting of an O / o with a slash . In 1929, with the introduction of the Latin alphabet in the Azerbaijani language, it was used for the sound œ . When the Cyrillic alphabet was introduced in 1939, the letter was adopted as Ө . When the Latin alphabet was reintroduced in 1991, it was finally replaced by Ö .

In the international phonetic alphabet , the letter stands for the rounded, semi-closed central vowel . It was also adopted in the Africa alphabet and used for this sound, but the letter has since been abolished there.

Unicode contains the capital letter Ɵ in the Unicode block Latin, extended-B at code point U + 019F and the lower case letter ɵ in the Unicode block IPA extensions at code point U + 0275.
