(11984) Manet is an asteroid of the central main belt which was discovered on October 20, 1995 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the Schmidt telescope of the French Observatoire de Calern near Grasse ( IAU code 010).

The mean diameter of the asteroid was calculated to be 5.679 (± 0.196) km .

(11984) Manet was named on August 6, 2009 after the French painter Édouard Manet (1832-1883), who is considered one of the pioneers of modern painting in the transition from realism to impressionism . His paintings “ Breakfast in the Green ” (1863), “ Olympia ” (1863) and “ Un bar aux Folies Bergère ” (1882) were particularly emphasized in the dedication .
