(2888) Hodgson ( 1982 TO ; 1931 TO 1 ; 1936 DE ; 1948 TC 1 ; 1955 XB ; 1965 UM ; 1970 EJ 1 ; 1973 AN 2 ; 1977 FP 2 ; 1981 KG ) is an asteroid about five kilometers across the inner main belt discovered on October 13, 1982 by American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at Lowell Observatory , Anderson Mesa Station ( Anderson Mesa ) near Flagstaff , Arizona ( IAU code 688).
designation
(2888) Hodgson was named after Richard G. Hodgson , who was a professor at Dordt College at Sioux Center in Sioux County , Iowa . In 1973 he founded the Minor Planets Section of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers .
